<p class="texto">Matthew descreve um profundo encantamento e paixão por Julia, ao mesmo tempo que lidava com angústias pessoais - e o vício em álcool e drogas. Assim, por medo de ser insuficiente para atriz e perdê-la, ele mesmo acabou por terminar o relacionamento. Segundo Matthew, Julia ficou muito confusa.</p>
<p class="texto">O caso é mencionado diversas vezes pelo ator no livro, como um exemplo de seu padrão de autossabotagem ao longo da vida. "Eu estava destruído, avariado, não merecia amor".</p>
<p class="texto">Ele também conta que, anos depois, ele estava em uma clínica de reabilitação quando Roberts venceu o Oscar de Melhor Atriz por seu papel em Erin Brockovich: uma mulher de talento. "Fiz uma piada: Eu te aceito de volta", conta. "A sala inteira riu".</p>

Matthew Perry, ator mais conhecido por ter dado vida ao personagem Chandler Bing, da série Friends, morreu no último sábado. A data, 28 de outubro, também é aniversário da ex-namorada de Perry, Julia Roberts.
Os dois se relacionaram nos anos 90, na época em que a atriz fez uma participação especial em Friends. O relacionamento é muito citado no livro de memórias de Perry, chamado Amigos, Amores e Aquela Coisa Terrível.
Na obra, ele conta que Roberts aceitou participar da série desde que contracenasse com o ator. Eles, então, trocaram uma série de fax "românticos" até se envolverem de verdade. Assim, quando Julia participou do episódio de Friends, ela e Matthew já eram namorados.
"Nosso beijo no sofá foi tão real que as pessoas acharam que era real. Foi mesmo", contou ele.
Matthew descreve um profundo encantamento e paixão por Julia, ao mesmo tempo que lidava com angústias pessoais - e o vício em álcool e drogas. Assim, por medo de ser insuficiente para atriz e perdê-la, ele mesmo acabou por terminar o relacionamento. Segundo Matthew, Julia ficou muito confusa.
O caso é mencionado diversas vezes pelo ator no livro, como um exemplo de seu padrão de autossabotagem ao longo da vida. "Eu estava destruído, avariado, não merecia amor".
Ele também conta que, anos depois, ele estava em uma clínica de reabilitação quando Roberts venceu o Oscar de Melhor Atriz por seu papel em Erin Brockovich: uma mulher de talento. "Fiz uma piada: Eu te aceito de volta", conta. "A sala inteira riu".
"Eu estava tão feliz por ela. E eu? Simplesmente me sentia mais grato por ter sobrevivido a mais um dia. Quando você chega ao fundo do poço, os dias demoram a ar. Eu não precisava de mais um Oscar; eu só precisava de mais um dia".
