Vencedor do seu sétimo ATP Finals no domingo, em Turim, na Itália, o sérvio Novak Djokovic, número 1 do mundo pela 400ª semana, aumentou sua vantagem em relação ao seu perseguidor mais próximo, o espanhol Carlos Alcaraz, no ranking da ATP divulgado nesta segunda-feira (20), sem alterações no 'Top 20'.
Aos 36 anos, Djokovic termina a temporada pela oitava vez na carreira na primeira posição. O americano Pete Sampras e o suíço Roger Federer conseguiram seis e cinco vezes, respectivamente.
Em termos de semanas no topo do ranking, o suíço ficou em primeiro lugar por 310 semanas enquanto o americano 286.
"Ainda tenho fome de recordes e títulos", avisou Djokovic no sábado, agora 2.390 pontos à frente de Alcaraz.
Apesar da idade, "Nole", que venceu três torneios de Grand Slam em 2023, parece mais hegemônico do que nunca.
A expectativa é a de que o retorno anunciado para 2024 do espanhol Rafael Nadal, atualmente número 662 do ranking aos 37 anos, possa lhe dar um rival à altura para a próxima temporada.
